Purpose Driven

Compensation is not the only driver in choosing an employer. Especially now that we’re not geographically bound. Those seeking jobs are also looking for meaning, a purpose other than ‘we make money’…. ‘we sell stuff’….. The Triple Bottom Line - People, Planet, Profit has been around for quite some time now. Some embraced it immediately. Steve Jobs comes to mind - he did it back in the late 1990s. Others continue to struggle with it. It’s caused a bit of a rift among generations but I’m seeing that rift closing as people realize they can learn from each other. Purpose is connected to values. Everyone has values that help them walk through life with pride. Companies that put their values, their purpose into the world with gusto reap the returns by attracting and retaining like-minded people. Imagine that.
