You’re Not Alone

Sometimes we get into the mindset that were just too busy to connect with others. “We already have so many meetings, no one is going to want to have more.”

A wonderful organizational practice to help people feel more connected and less alone in our new hybrid world is supporting just a few minutes at the beginning or end of planned meetings to talk openly about things other than work. Give people a chance to get to know each other, what’s happening in their lives, connect as people, not just colleagues, and continue the conversation in that meeting next time. Follow up on what someone shared with genuine interest and update them about you.

Leaders model this and see what happens.
